About SMCA

Mission, Goals and Purpose of the Club

The club's mission is to promote responsible ownership of the Small (Kleine) Münsterländer. To that end, the SMCA will encourage training, testing, and hunting. The club recognizes the Small (Kleine) Munsterlander to be a versatile hunting dog, sets the A.K.C. Standard of the breed, which follows the international standard as set by F.C.I. The SMCA encourages testing, training and breeding that conforms to accepted standards.

SMCA is governed by a Board of Directors which consists of an elected President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Breed Warden. The Breed Council manages the SMCA's breeding program.

ARTICLE III. GOALS AND PRIMARY CLUB PURPOSE

SECTION 1. Small Munsterlander Club of America, Inc. will promote the responsible ownership of the Small Munsterlander; also known as SM.

SECTION 2

The objects of the Club shall be:

  1. The Club recognizes the Small Munsterlander to be a versatile hunting dog, encourages testing, training, and breeding that conforms to accepted standards.
  2. To encourage and promote the breeding of pure-bred Small Munsterlander and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
  3. To encourage the organization of independent local Small Munsterlander Specialty Clubs in those localities where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of The American Kennel Club.
  4. To require members and breeders to accept the Breed Conformation Standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Small Munsterlander  shall be judged.
  5. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at hunting test, field trials, obedience trials and dog shows
  6. To conduct hunting test, field trials, and obedience trials, agility trials, sanctioned matches and specialty shows, and any future AKC recognized licensed event under the rules of The American Kennel Club.
